Putney Westerfield's Trip Reports

Indonesia - September/October 1998

Bali, Sulawesi, Flores, Komodo, Lombok, Sumba

Everyone dreams of Bali, and for good reason. It alone is worth a trans-Pacific flight. Actually I had visited Bali and Jakarta and Jogjakarta in the sixties. Now it is time to island-hop east of Bali (Hindu influence), Lombok (Muslim), Komodo (famous for its dragons), and fascinating cultures of each island. Colorful, romantic, fun-loving people. First stop, however, will be the big island of Sulawesi with its astounding cultural events and architecture.
